Firms expand broker support with key hires

Three firms in the UK mortgage and lending industry have announced key appointments aimed at enhancing their support for brokers and improving service delivery.

Specialist lender Precise, part of OSB Group, has expanded its bridging finance team with four new hires. Davey Gurm, John Bremner, and Jodie Worswick have joined as specialist finance account managers, while Amrit Kumar has been appointed as a business development manager.

The hires follow recent changes to Precise’s bridging proposition, including enhanced AVM criteria, rate reductions, and the introduction of a developer exit product. These updates have aimed to streamline processes for brokers and cater to both regulated and unregulated bridging needs.

“These four appointments highlight our focus not just on delivering the right financial solutions but underpinned with an award-winning service,” said Alan Kimber, head of bridging at Precise. “As we continue to see growth in bridging demand through 2024 and into Q1 2025, it’s fundamentally important that our brokers get the support they need, at the time they need it.”

Meanwhile, Legal & General’s Mortgage Services division has named Kelly Bretherton as the new head of Ignite, the firm’s integrated mortgage research platform.

Bretherton brings over 26 years of industry experience, including 18 years with fintech firms Trigold and Iress, where she served as head of product for intermediary mortgages.

Ignite provides mortgage advisers with tools to match clients with suitable lenders and products through affordability calculators, criteria sourcing, and property checking.

“Kelly’s appointment is an exciting and significant step forward for Ignite,” said Kevin Roberts, managing director of mortgage services at Legal & General. “The mortgage market is evolving at pace, so it’s crucial that we adapt and equip our teams to provide the best possible support to consumers, advisers and lenders.”

Elsewhere, Mortgage Brain has appointed David Louw as team leader for intermediary success, as it continues to focus on practical tech solutions that help brokers streamline workflows and improve client outcomes.

Louw has worked across estate agency, fintech, and broker operations, including previous roles at Habito and Better.co.uk. He will now lead Mortgage Brain’s efforts to support advisers through the transition to its new CRM platform, CRM Brain, and maximise the use of the firm’s technology suite.

“David’s experience as a broker coupled with his passion for technology and customer service is a great addition to the team we have built over the last few years,” said Neil Wyatt, sales and marketing director at Mortgage Brain.

“As with most things in life, timing is everything. We have recently launched our new Mortgage Brain Hub and are now actively migrating customers onto our latest technology solutions. David and his team will play a pivotal role in supporting new and existing customers on that journey.”
