June 28th 2005 will see one of the most spectacular events ever to grace the country with over 160 ships gathering off Portsmouth to celebrate 200 years since the victory over the French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar. The date also marks another significant mile stone in the countdown to Leeds Building Society, which is the new name of the UK's eight largest building society, Leeds & Holbeck and will take effect on 12th September.
75 days consists of 1,800 hours and 108,000 minutes. 18.00 hours is another way to say 6pm and a search in google tells you that the night shift of the fire service starts at this time. There may well be fireworks to bring in the new name but it is hoped the fire brigade are not required.
The number of seconds also brings up some interesting search results. In fact, it is possible to buy a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom bungalow with a large terrace in Torreviega, Spain just north of Alicante for 108,000 euros (approximately £71,671). You may not be able to get much for this money now in the UK, with the average house price being £183,486 but it was only £590.00 75 years ago in 1930.
Gary Brook, PR Manager said " It's hard to imagine 75 years ago as it is nearly twice as long as my life so far. The second World War hadn't started and anyone talking about average house prices of £183,486 today and euros would have been perceived as a little mad. What a difference 75 years makes and I can't wait for 75 days time when we will see the arrival of Leeds Building Society."
