Lender makes clarifications for those who want to join the program
Accord Mortgages has advised brokers and customers that anybody that has been accepted into the government’s Homes for Ukraine Scheme doesn’t need to inform them they have been accepted on to the scheme or provide any details.
The intermediary-only lender clarified that no changes will be made to the current mortgage product for customers who want to take in Ukrainian refugees.
“Since the UK government announced the creation of the Homes for Ukraine scheme, we’ve been committed to supporting any of our borrowers who wish to open their homes to those fleeing the horrendous conflict in Ukraine,” Jeremy Duncombe, managing director at Accord Mortgages, said.
“We’ve worked on making it as easy and simple as possible for those who want to help to do so. By removing any need for brokers or borrowers to contact us once they’ve been accepted to the Homes for Ukraine scheme, this takes away further administration for borrowers that are helping people in unimaginable situations,” Duncombe explained.

Last month, Yorkshire Building Society – which Accord is part of – also donated £50,000 to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal and removed restrictions on the causes colleagues can support through its paid volunteering scheme, which allocates each employee 31 hours paid leave every year, to give practical help, sorting and packing donations in support of Ukraine.
