Martin, who is managing director of MDA Information Products Ltd, will be handed the reigns by current chairman Ian Turner of First Title, who has been with the association since it was founded in 2005.
Martin’s role will be to build upon the strong foundations created by Ian and to provide strategic direction for the association on behalf of the board of directors, in addition to other responsibilities including the chairing of the association’s general meetings.
Mike Ockenden, director-general of AHIPP, said: “I would like to offer sincere thanks to Ian, on behalf of the association and the membership. He has been a very supportive chairman, without whom AHIPP and the HIP industry in general may not exist today. We had always understood that Ian would step down after two years in the role, and we would like to thank him for his contribution over the last two years, during which time he has helped to ensure that Home Information Packs (HIPs) have remained very much on the agenda.
“I am pleased to welcome Martin into his role. As managing director of MDA Information Products Ltd, Martin is able to combine in-depth knowledge and experience of both HIPs and the wider industry. Martin is extremely well placed to lead us through the introduction of HIPs in August.”
Martin’s new appointment was formalised at AHIPP’s AGM last week, where he was unanimously welcomed as the AHIPP chairman.
Talking of his role, Martin concluded: “I am delighted to have been appointed as chairman for the association and I will ensure the continued high profile of AHIPP, which Ian has maintained during the past two years.
“We have an eventful year ahead with the introduction of HIPs now less than two months away. The association plays a prominent role in the HIPs industry and remains committed to ensuring the future success of the HIP, for the benefit of the industry and the consumer.”
