Chris Cummings, Director General of AIFA, said: "Fay has been a great servant to AIFA and the IFA profession for more than a decade. She's seen more than her fair share of the trials and tribulations of the advice community and has the battle scars to prove it!
"As much as anyone in the organisation, she has helped establish AIFA as the voice of the IFA community - ensuring member views are represented in Whitehall, Westminster and Canary Wharf. We wish her all the best in her future career."
AIFA is now recruiting a new Policy Director. He or she will head up the policy team that provides expert support to members of AIFA, AMI and AFB. AIFA will not be recruiting a new Deputy Director General.
Cummings added: "The Director of Policy role is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to influence the future direction of financial services policy. Current market conditions make the value of good advice more important than ever and AIFA has a key role to play in this.
"The Manifesto for Advice shows that we can set the agenda as well as respond to the proposals of others. We've also shown in recent months what we can achieve, for example in securing better outcomes in the Retail Distribution Review, and reform of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and Financial Ombudsman Service. We plan to ensure that we build on the momentum created during 2008 and beyond.
"We have a strong management team in place that will continue to work hard to represent the views of our members. The AIFA team now consists of 17 people, working on policy, membership support, PR and marketing.
"We had one of our best years for member recruitment in 2007 and AIFA now represents over 80% of the IFA profession. We plan to build on that success this year."
