This forms part of a strategic end-to-end review of its mortgage process.
The Centre will be dedicated to mortgage applications made by Intermediaries and will improve service quality, particularly the speed of the application process, from the moment an application is made until the day the funds are released to customers.
Andrew Robinson, Director of Intermediary Mortgages for Alliance & Leicester commented: "Alliance & Leicester is firmly committed to the Intermediary market and is constantly reviewing the mortgage processing service. The decision to dedicate a Mortgage Centre entirely to Intermediary applications comes as a result of feedback from a number of our Intermediary customers, as we continue to seek ways to improve the services we offer."
Robinson continues: "This latest improvement to our service will make the application process easier and more efficient for our customers. The Centre will provide one point of contact for Intermediaries throughout the application process, with an Alliance & Leicester team who understand the specialist needs of our Intermediary customers, building and developing clear communication and a strong working relationship."
The dedicated centre will be an expansion of the existing Mortgage Centre in Belfast and will become operational from January 2004. It will be supported by the bank's Technical Lending Team based in Leicester who will specialise in applications for larger loans.
