Robert Sinclair, director of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries, said he had been involved in presenting late evidence to the Commission to inform its thinking on the UK mortgage market and help them understand how it differs from other EU member states’ mortgage markets.
He said: “We’ve been especially keen to get across the importance of advice in the UK mortgage market and the large intermediary focus we have here versus the direct and bank led markets in other European member states. It’s important the Commission’s legislation and regulation reflect all parts of the European landscape.”
Sinclair said he understood the final paper would be published in the next four weeks.
