New Labour leader Kier Starmer is expected to confirm more Shadow Cabinet positions today after appointing Anneliese Dodds as Shadow Chancellor last night.
Andrew Gwynne (pictured) has stepped down from his role as Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Gwynne had held the role since June 2017 and was the opposite number of Robert Jenrick who's portfolio includes housing in England.
Under former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn there was also a separate Shadow Secretary of State for Housing (John Healey), as Corbyn had indicated that he would create a separate government department for housing if his party won the election
It is yet to be seen if new Labour leader Kier Starmer will merge the roles to reflect the shared brief of Jenrick.
Alongside his Shadow Cabinet role he also held the position of campaign co-ordinator.
However, in a letter to Starmer Gwynne said that role had been “frankly torturous”.
