Brown welcomes cash injection

Whilst this co-operation might be a positive in Brown's eyes, many commentators are voicing concern over just how severe the problems within the financial markets have become, in order to prompt the banks into joining forces in this way.

Speaking to the Times, Brown said that this move "signals an international desire to act in what has been a period of global financial turbulence."

By joining forces, the banks hope to have a bigger impact however it is unclear how the banks hope to restore dwindling consumer confidence if this $110 billion cash injection does not work.
