Knight announced his decision to step down last week at the Society’s Annual General Meeting last week.
Knight joined the Society’s Board in 2000 following a career spanning 37 years with Lloyds Banking Group where he held a number of Senior Management positions including Internal Audit, Corporate Banking and Retail. He will continue to serve Cirencester Friendly as a non-executive board member.
Having been appointed chairman in 2004 when the assets of Cirencester Friendly were just under £33m he has seen the assets of the Society grow to £68m during his tenure.
Knight will be replaced as chairman of the board of management by Martin King, non-executive member of the board of management since 2000 and vice-chairman since 2004.
Knight said: “The last ten years has been a very great pleasure and I am very proud to have served the Society over the years which saw such growth.”
Cirencester Friendly’s CEO Paul Hudson said: “With his vast financial service experience Tony’s input and guidance over the years has been invaluable.
“Indeed, we thank Tony for all his work over the last 10 years and welcome Martin to the role of chairman.”
