Addressing delegates at the CML Conference today Stockton spoke about upcoming plans to launch an online division within Countrywide to service the growing appetite borrowers had of getting their mortgage online.
He said that there was a generation who would rather pick out their houses online and Countrywide would take advantage of this by offering mortgage products alongside a property.
He did speak about the resilience of brokers, especially over the past few years, attributing their success to the value which borrowers have in face-to-face interaction but noted the increasing use of online.
He said: “Customers want to see someone to reassure them over the most important purchase of their life.
“Consumers still like choice, they like convenience and the like access to specialist knowledge. That trend will continue for the foreseeable future but it will change and when it does it will change quite dramatically.”
