Topics covered in the factsheet include the regulatory background, definitions of the many acronyms used by the FSA, non real-time and real-time promotions, FSA terminology, fees, solicited and unsolicited promotions, approval and records, and internet issues.
Commenting on the release Chris Cummings, director of AMI, said: “The rules around Financial Promotions can be complicated and littered with pitfalls for the unwary. This is why we have produced this guide for our members. It is aimed at helping firms as they continue to market themselves under the new regime.”
The guide also presents brokers with sample adverts which are fully compliant with the new rules but it does not cover Advertising Standards Authority rules, copyright law or data protection.
The factsheet will be made available to AMI members via AMI’s website at www.a-m-i.org.uk.
AMI – who are they?
AMI is the sole trade body for professional mortgage intermediaries.
The trade body aims to influence the nature and shape of regulation and the policies which affect mortgage intermediaries. It seeks your views on current issues and then communicates these to the policymakers. Whether the debate is on regulation or business practices, AMI influences the people who make the decisions to help protect your interests.
