Swindon-based packager Zest, formerly Apple Home Loans, said FitzSimons is a crucial addition to the company as it sets out to expand the business both in the UK and overseas.
As well as his role as chief executive of Bristol & West, FitzSimons was chief executive of Citibank Personal Bank and Chef & Brewer. Prior to that he was international finance director at Rank Xerox. More recently FitzSimons was a non-executive director of Infinity Mortgages.
FitzSimons told MI – News: “I am delighted to be joining Zest and the opportunity it presents to work with an enthusiastic team towards expanding a smaller, independent company with such good prospects.
“The combination of a strong established base, a refreshing new brand image, excellent relationships with a range of market-leading lenders and exclusive and innovative niche products means exciting times are ahead.”
Keith Curtis, managing director of Zest, added: “FitzSimons is one of the most prominent names in the UK mortgage industry. His appointment is another important step, following on from our recent rebranding and move to new headquarters.
“As our business grows in both the UK and overseas markets, Tony’s expertise will be a valuable asset in our continued growth and success.”
Zest packages for a range of mortgage lenders including Preferred, Stroud & Swindon Building Society and Rooftop Mortgages.
Part of its future plans include strengthening existing relationships together with expanding its panel of key partners throughout the UK.
Matt Gilmour, chief executive of Infinity Mortgages, commented: “Tony left us over a month ago and it was all amicable.
“Tony wanted a new challenge and he has known Keith at Zest a long time. He has a good eye for Europe and the Continent so he will fit in well with Zest’s plans.”
