Despite predictions that they would buckle under the strain of the ongoing market conditions, TMB's research has shown that the number of mortgages currently being packaged by respondents’ companies is down by just 8 per cent.
According to the survey, there was a broad spread of respondents in terms of the number of mortgages packaged by their companies each month, but the largest proportion amounting to almost three out of ten (29 per cent) said their companies handled between 101 and 200 cases per month.
David Murphy, sales & marketing director at TMB, said: “What the results show is that the role of packagers is still a very important area for brokers and will continue to be so. The product sectors that are being packaged might well change but the proposition provided by packagers is obviously still highly valued.
“In our experience packagers have demonstrated time after time that they are innovative and flexible enough to adapt to a changing market.”
