It is, of course, possible that some mortgage intermediaries do not send all the required paperwork at the correct time. On the evening of 23 November I signed up a mortgage with Woolwich. That night I submitted the case online. The valuation has happened, and the case has been underwritten. Yes, there were hitches but the case was offered on 7 December.
This demonstrates that if you establish with your business development manager (BDM) – Allen Finlayson in my case – the best and quickest form of communication – e-mail – then you don’t have to issue stupid ‘wanted’ posters as one broker did recently because he couldn’t get his BDM on the phone. A turn around of two weeks for an offer from the Woolwich, including problem solving by Allen Finlayson, deserves public praise.
