MI - News reviews the most ‘important’ release of the week.
From bard to worse
At my school the kids who were interested in drama were usually unpopular and rubbish at sport. You could usually find them walking round the school with only a dinner lady for company or attempting to get out of PE by feigning athlete’s foot. They were only allowed to ‘do drama’ because quite frankly they got in the way if allowed to participate in anything else.
Cheshire Building Society though has attempted to reach out to this motley bunch of misfits by supporting the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Before we can wonder why on earth this might be of interest to mortgage intermediaries the Cheshire’s press release outlines a tale of one building society bringing Shakespeare to the school children of the North West. In my school that would have made Cheshire about as popular as having to help the smelly kid with his homework and then catching his nits.
Kathy Cowell, senior corporate social responsibility manager for the Cheshire, has put those hygiene risks aside though to have plenty of fun with a bunch of young thesps desperate to be in the next Harry Potter film.
“The children who participated were taken on a wonderful journey, interpreting the works of Shakespeare, rehersing their productions and then finally putting on some of the most enjoyable and creative performances I have ever seen. The results were truly breathtaking.” said Kathy. Must have been that smelly kid again.
