The event will take place on Thursday, June 30
The industry is set to unite on Thursday, June 30, in support of Ukrainian orphans and the struggles the country is currently enduring.
In the style of the famous 1985 Live Aid concert, some London mortgage figureheads are set to plug in their amps in an effort to raise £50,000 for Ukrainian orphans. This is the amount which the Building Societies Association (BSA) has just committed to the Ukraine effort.
Event organiser Kevin Duffy, managing director of Mortgageforce, said he is confident that this figure can be matched by the event.
The event will contain six tribute acts to famous artists, as well as six industry acts. It is expected that 500 industry members will attend in support of Ukrainian orphans.
“The aim is to put on a six hour concert to which key lender partners can bring along some of their back office staff who did such great work for them throughout the pandemic,” Duffy said.
He explained that all age groups and mortgage practitioners are welcome, “whether that be teenagers or embarrassing Dad dancers such as me,” he added.
Several tribute acts are already confirmed such as those for the Stereophonics, Rolling Stones and ABBA. He went on to add that these will be supplemented by some talented musicians from the mortgage industry including Coreco’s Andrew Montlake and Lea Karrasavas from Prolific Mortgages.
