Other office bearers elected include Donald Brydon, chairman of AXA Investment Managers, the London Metal Exchange and Smiths' Industries, was elected deputy president. Roy Ransley of HSBC was elected treasurer.

Diane Walker, head of faculty risk and insurance management, at the ifs, commented "We are thrilled to have a leading insurance industry figure heading up the council at the ifs.
