Wint joined the society in 1997 and has been a member of the senior management team for five years as general manager responsible for customer services.
She said: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud to be appointed to the board of Leeds Building Society. It is a real honour to be part of such a successful organisation that puts members at the heart of everything we do.”
Wint, who is also a member of Leeds City Council’s housing and regeneration board and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, said she was looking forward to developing the society’s member proposition further and continuing to focus on maintaining its favourable efficiency ratios.
In her new role Wint will have executive management responsibility for all the society’s operational areas including new lending, customer service, information technology and human resources.
Robin Smith, chairman of Leeds, said: “This is an excellent appointment and I am delighted to welcome Karen to the Board. She is a qualified banker with a wealth of experience and a wide ranging knowledge of the Society.”
Smith added: “We are proud that the society has been able to make this high profile appointment, following a rigorous recruitment process, from within our own staff which confirms the strength and quality of our people.”
