Brokers who do not wish to complete the GI process themselves can forward the client on through Mortgage Brain, where Berkeley Alexander will pick the enquiry up, paying the adviser commission for the lifetime of any policy.
With GI becoming an increasingly important aspect of the advice process, Mortgage Brain said it hoped to capitalise on this sector and make it easier for brokers to offer clients a range of protection products.
Mark Lofthouse, CEO of Mortgage Brain, commented: “Berkeley Alexander’s products offer competitive premiums and excellent policy cover while providing good rates of commission. Its products and services will compliment the other GI providers we’ve already established systems integrations with and will give our customers even more choice when selling financial services to their clients.”
Advisers will also have access to other products available through Berkeley Alexander, including home insurance, buy-to-let cover and mortgage payment protection insurance.
Peter Wright, financial consultant at CBK, said: “If you are a mortgage adviser, you’ve got to be careful not to ignore GI as it’s part and parcel of advice nowadays. However, if you pass off that element to another firm, you open yourself up to cross-selling.”
