Nationwide names head of intermediary sales and new build

Nationwide Building Society has announced the appointment of James Briffitt (pictured) as its new head of intermediary sales and new build, a newly created role within the organisation.

In this position, Briffitt will lead Nationwide’s intermediary sales teams and oversee its new-build initiatives. He will report to Ian Andrew, Nationwide’s director of intermediary relationships.

Briffitt brings 12 years of experience at Nationwide, where he most recently served as regional manager for London and the South East. Prior to joining Nationwide, he held senior roles at Legal & General and Northern Rock.

“I’m delighted that James is stepping into the role of head of intermediary sales and new build,” Andrew said. “His extensive experience and deep understanding of the residential, buy-to-let and new-build markets, along with his passion, drive and vision for the future, means he is the ideal candidate to help us further strengthen our position in the intermediary sector.”

Commenting on his appointment, Briffitt expressed enthusiasm for the new role, stating that he looks forward to collaborating with intermediaries, developers, and specialist new-build brokers across the country.

“I'm delighted to be given this opportunity,” he said. “Intermediary business is hugely important to both Nationwide and The Mortgage Works and we are determined to continue delivering a market leading proposition in both the residential and buy-to-let markets.”

Nationwide, the world’s largest building society, serves over 17 million customers, 16 million of whom hold a current account, mortgage, or savings product. With a workforce of more than 18,000 employees, Nationwide operates from its headquarters in Swindon and manages a network of over 600 branches across the UK. It is also the UK’s third largest mortgage provider.
