Scott, who is 58, was first appointed to the board in 1999 becoming deputy chairman in November 2002. He is the senior partner of John German Estate Agents, an independent firm of Estate Agents & Chartered Surveyors with offices across the Midlands.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Mellors said: “It’s been a great privilege to have served on the board of such a well run, prudent and progressive society for the last ten years and I’m delighted to be selected as chairman. On behalf of the board, I’d like to thank Paul for all his hard work, commitment and dedication to the Society. During this time, The Loughborough has enjoyed growth and stability, a trend we plan to continue under its new chief executive, Gary Brebner.
“These are exciting times for The Loughborough and we have a strong team in place to help enhance our reputation as a leading East Midlands’ society, committed to delivering competitive products and exceptional service to our members.”
Peter Jessop, who joined the board in April this year, has been appointed deputy chairman. He is a qualified chartered management accountant and former finance director, secretary and deputy chief executive of Mansfield Building Society and current chairman of Nottingham based Christian Bank, which is run on mutual principles.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Peter Jessop as my deputy, he brings a wealth of industry experience to the role,” says Mr Mellors.
