After seven years, Northern Rock borrowers qualifying for a loyalty discount will benefit from a new rate of 7.44 per cent, taking effect from 1 January 2008.
This is a knock-on effect brought about by the lender's SVR reduction to 7.69 per cent, also effective from New Years Day.
