RAMP appoints new compliance director

Starting his new role just after Easter, Battersby’s arrival marks the starts of the next stage in RAMP’s future plans.

Battersby’s appointment comes at a crucial stage, with RAMP recently expelling c2-financial from its panel for alleged compliance failings and allegations from c2 that its departure was more to do with a clash of opinions over the running of RAMP.

Battersby replaces Sam Foxall, who resigned from her position at RAMP earlier this year and is now compliance director at c2.

Battersby said of his new appointment: “My first objective is to spend time understanding the individual businesses which make up the RAMP membership.

Clearly supporting RAMP members with overseeing their compliance and regulatory objectives can only come with that understanding.

“Over the next three months it is likely that some of the members will soon receive notice of an FSA supervisory visit and I shall need to ensure that these firms come through the visits with a clean bill of health.

“This will be achieved through a round of formal compliance reviews with all member firms starting immediately.”

He added: “RAMP represents many of the best packagers in the country. My role going forward is to ensure that RAMP builds on firm foundations and takes its place as a natural leader in the application of best practice in the mortgage industry.”

John Rice, RAMP’s managing director, said: “Nick is a very welcome addition to the team. His experience as an ex-regulator with the MCCB, as well as his hands on knowledge of the lending industry and most recent success in bringing one of the first new mortgage networks through its first FSA supervisory visit will be hugely beneficial to RAMP’s development and the needs of our members.”
