Bottomley, who is currently mortgage and bancassurance director at Lloyds Bank, will join on January 1 2016.
He will lead Skipton’s branch network, customer contact centre, distribution teams and oversee group subsidiary, Skipton Financial Services.
Bottomley said: “Skipton is a very well regarded and managed business in the mutual and wider financial services sector.
“It’s shown real tenacity to remain financially strong despite some of the worst economic conditions our country has faced.
“And has done so while keeping its members central to everything it does. I’m very much looking forward to joining Skipton next year and playing my part in its continued success.”
Bottomley has held a series of series of senior appointments not only at Lloyds but Lloyds TSB, Bank of Scotland and Halifax.
Group chief executive David Cutter, to whom Bottomley will report, added: “I look forward to welcoming Andrew on board.
“He brings with him a wealth of financial services experience and I am sure he will make a solid contribution to Skipton as we continue to meet our customers’ needs and grow our business.”
