To obtain a copy of the guide, brokers simply need to register their details on the RPS website: www.therpsgroup.co.uk and a SRB regulatory factsheet will be e-mailed to them by return. The factsheet explains how and when regulation is going to be introduced, who needs to be regulated and what regulatory options are available to brokers.
RPS chief executive Peter Beaumont said: “Brokers have asked us for guidance about the new SRB regulations which come into effect in just a couple of weeks time. We have therefore produced an easy to understand factsheet which will enable any broker who wants to offer sale and rent back services to their clients, to decide which regulatory option is right for them.
“The new regulations will not cause mortgage brokers any problems, but brokers do need to ensure they understand them before the interim regime comes into effect on 1st July. We therefore recommend that any broker who wants to become an active player in the SRB market reads our factsheet as soon as possible.”
