Stockton to exit mortgage market

Stockton will be replaced as Countrywide’s financial services managing director by Peter Curran who joined the firm from Lloyds Banking Group earlier this year.

Alison Platt, chief executive of Countrywide, said: “The appointment of Peter Curran, a career professional with over 20 years’ experience, to lead our financial services offering is testament to the important relationship we have with the lending community.

“This will add significantly to our capability in financial services, a key focus for us given the growth of the broker market.

“With new arrivals comes a departure and with our full support and pleasure that he remains within the family, Nigel Stockton will join national wealth manager Bellpenny on 1 September 2015.

“Nigel has been a director of Bellpenny since its inception and this role will see him continue to operate in the mortgage and insurance arena.

“Both Peter and Nigel have worked together for a number of years and their professional support for each other will ensure a smooth transition.

“We are very excited about these appointments and believe this new executive team with its careful balance of sector experience, countrywide experience and the very best external talent puts us in the best shape possible to deliver on the ambitions of our strategy.”

Platt has also announced a new executive team including Samantha Tryer as retail managing director, Paul Creffield as business to business managing director, Graham Bell as London managing director, Kate Brown as group HR director and Andrew Pennells as group transformation and change director.

Tryer joins from Dixons Carphone where she was responsible for 8,500 people across 1,100 branches.

Creffield will lead the B2B offering (Lambert Smith Hampton, Land & New Homes including Hamptons Residential Development Investment, Professional Services, Corporate Property Services and Corporate Business) to ensure it is leveraged to its maximum across the group.

Brown joined from Bupa in March 2015 and will lead the implementation of the people agenda.

Pennells, formerly sales director with the group’s estate agency division, will now focus on leading the transformational change agenda.

Platt added: “I firmly believe the executive team announced today has the experience and passion to create the best environment and structure for our people to deliver outstanding customer experience while ensuring we make the most of all the opportunities in the UK property sector, both residential and commercial.”
