Strong support was also shown for the re-election of key directors, including the chairman, Richard Robinson, who received 91.8% of votes in favour, whilst 89.4% of voters approved the Report on Directors’ Remuneration.
John Goodfellow, chief executive and director, said, “"I'm pleased that almost a fifth of our members were compelled to take part in the AGM voting, which emphasises their interest in the affairs of a mutual. I'm also extremely pleased that nearly 90% of votes supported the report on directors' remuneration, despite much critical press comment. It is heartening to be given a strong message by our members, especially from those that attended the meeting, that they see a marked difference between the management of a mutual and the fat cats at plcs."
