Three lenders add new board directors

Three UK lenders have announced new board appointments, bringing in experienced leaders to guide their strategies in a challenging market.

Chetwood Financial, trading as Chetwood Bank, has appointed Philip Jenks (pictured left) as a non-executive director (NED).

Jenks, a seasoned financial services leader with over 50 years of experience, will help steer the digital bank’s growth strategy, especially in the mortgage sector. He has held senior roles at Halifax, HBOS, and Leeds Building Society.

“Across its different brands and products, Chetwood Bank is always focused on finding ways to help people financially, and that’s an ethos I’m very pleased to contribute to,” Jenks said. “I look forward to helping them execute their ambitious plans for the year ahead.”

In a similar development, buy-to-let lender Landbay has added Anna Macdonald (pictured centre) to its board as an independent non-executive director.

With over 20 years’ experience in institutional and wealth management, Macdonald is currently an investment manager at Aubrey Capital Management. She previously worked as a fund manager at Amati Global Investors and Henderson Global Investors. She is also a well-respected and regular commentator on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, BBC TV, Sky News and Reuters TV.

“It is an exciting time to join Landbay’s board,” Macdonald said. “The business has grown significantly over the last few years, despite the challenging macro environment. I am looking forward to working with the team during its next chapter in its journey as Landbay continues to scale.”

Meanwhile, Market Harborough Building Society has appointed Mark Record (pictured right) as a non-executive director.

Record, with over 35 years in financial services and technology leadership roles, will lend his expertise in strategy and transformation to the building society, which specialises in complex mortgage cases and bridging finance. He is currently an adviser to multiple boards and has held high profile chief information officer roles at Masthaven Bank, Co-operative Bank, RBS and Barclays.

“I’m passionate about building high performing teams and working with leaders with strong values and ethics,” Record said. “I’m thrilled to be joining Market Harborough where our values are closely aligned. I can’t wait to help build on its existing success to deliver even more benefit for its customers, colleagues and communities.”
