In light of government’s consultation on the framework for financial regulation, the Treasury Committee has announced an inquiry into those same proposals.
Terms of Reference for the inquiry will be released shortly.
Committee chairman Andrew Tyrie said: "The Government's plans amount to a wholesale restructuring of the financial regulatory architecture. This makes it crucial that the Government's proposals are subject to rigorous scrutiny.
"I note the Government's proposals to give the Treasury Committee a leading role in the scrutiny of the Financial Policy Committee. This is to be expected, and I'm sure that the Committee will want to consider how best to ensure robust accountability to Parliament, and the wider public."
