With the introduction of Home Information Packs, and more specifically the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) in June, and the augmenting awareness of green issues among both businesses and the public, UCB said it aimed to help customers improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
With UK housing accounting for over 25 per cent of carbon emissions, it is seen by many in the government and green lobby as a key area to target if Britain is to reduce its emissions by 60 per cent by 2050.

Keith Astill, managing director of UCB, said: “The booklet is designed to help people take small steps that, collectively, can make a big difference to the environment. With EPCs becoming compulsory this Summer, this is obviously an increasingly important area.”
The booklet, entitled ‘You and Your Carbon Footprint’, gives tips on improving the energy efficiency of a property, as well as energy saving and recycling hints and advice on micro-generation and saving water. It is also sent via e-mail, rather than paper-based.
