Danny Belton is the head of lender relationships for the Legal & General Mortgage Club, responsible for the management and oversight of all the relationships the organisation has with the lenders on its panel. He works with the lenders to develop new propositions, criteria and products that meet the ever-changing needs of the club’s members, and their customers. His career at financial services spans more than 30 years, starting at NatWest where he worked for about three years. He then moved to L&G where his first role was setting up direct debits in the pensions team. His first experience of the mortgage market was in December 1997, when he took over the team managing the L&G Mortgage Club’s procuration fee payments to brokers. Since then, Belton has been a constant and instrumental part in growing the L&G Mortgage Club from lending £1bn in its second year (1997) to £65bn in 2017. In 2019, Belton won the Outstanding Contribution Award at the Mortgage Strategy Awards and in 2020 L&G was named Best Mortgage Club.
