When May Shalhoub moved to the US from Israel at the age of 19, she already had her bachelor’s degree. She started her mortgage career as a staff assistant at a bank, moving on to become a processor and finally an originator. As a top performing loan officer for the last 25 years, Shalhoub knows the value of customer service, building a specialized plan for each customer to achieve his or her dream, whether it be buying a small condo or a large home. And she’s willing to work long and hard to make those dreams come true; Shalhoub has a reputation for her tenacity and persistence in making loans happen for her clients. “A simple ‘thank you’ from a client makes a big difference for May,” says Academy Mortgage's Divisional Manager Kriss Bates. “She doesn’t track how much money she’s making or how many loans she closes. She puts that stuff to the side and just enjoys what she does. She believes that when you love what you do, you will succeed.” Shalhoub’s love of the industry seems to have rubbed off; she’s currently training her son and daughter to become Academy loan officers.
