SHANE JOHNSON
OWNER
BOOYAH MORTGAGE
Shane Johnson has made it his mission to help military veterans find homes. His company, Booyah Mortgage, doesn’t charge lender fees to vets. Johnson also has committed to taking a portion of the company’s earnings and giving it back to the buyers at closing to ensure they’re receiving the best possible pricing. Booyah Mortgage also started a nonprofit to help veterans repair their credit, initiated a ‘shower bus’ project to give homeless veterans a place to bathe, and became an annual sponsor of the Joe Warrior 5K Walk to benefit the families of fallen soldiers. “A veteran – whether active-duty, discharged, retired or reserve – is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America, for an amount up to and including his life,” Johnson says. “That is honor. And there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact. My mission is to ensure that we give back to those who wrote that check.”
