California Mortgage Bankers Association enhances DE&I leadership line-up
The California Mortgage Bankers Association (CMBA) has appointed Tai Christensen (pictured), president of Arrive Home, as chair of its diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) committee.
Christensen, who brings over two decades of experience in the mortgage industry, will be sharing leadership responsibilities with vice-chair Stephanie Whittenberg.
“I am looking forward to working with Tai to advance the California MBA’s DE&I efforts,” said Whittenberg. “She has a powerful voice within the mortgage community, and I am certain that, together, we can effectively bring this important cause to the forefront of industry conversation.”
Christensen’s appointment is a continuation of CMBA’s commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion within the mortgage lending industry, a key focus since the launch of its DE&I committee in 2021. In her role, Christensen aims to foster greater conversations and actions towards inclusivity and diversity in the mortgage sector.
“This is an initiative that has been important to me since I began my career in this space more than 20 years ago,” Christensen said in a media release. “As someone who has dedicated much of their career to helping bridge the homeownership gap in underserved communities, I am eager to initiate more conversations about how industry leaders can effectuate this much-needed change and help advance the future of this profession.”

A staunch advocate for diversifying the mortgage profession, Christensen highlights the significant impact a diverse workforce can have in helping more people of color secure home loans. She is also a board member of AXIS 360 Lift, an organization focused on educating and empowering individuals seeking careers in mortgage and serves as the advisory chair of the American Mortgage Diversity Council. Additionally, Christensen hosts the California MBA’s monthly DE&I podcast, which features industry leaders discussing DE&I initiatives in mortgage lending.
