Executive will serve as VP of diverse talent
Guild Mortgage has hired Lamont Watson (pictured) as its first vice president of diverse talent.
The San Diego-headquartered lender said Watson will help Guild empower a diverse workforce while fostering an inclusive environment where employees feel valued and supported.
Additionally, he will spearhead the company’s efforts in attracting and retaining diverse talent and improving its talent development processes, including mentorship and career advancement opportunities. The 19-year mortgage veteran joined Guild in 2012 as producing sales manager. Before Guild, he was a loan officer at Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase.
“Through Lamont’s leadership, Guild will continue to build a diverse and inclusive organization that thrives on the strengths and talents of its employees, where borrowers and employees feel welcomed and supported,” Guild Mortgage CEO Mary Ann McGarry said in the company’s press release.

“My personal experience as a Black man working in the mortgage industry for the past two decades has given me insights and experience to draw from that I’m ready to put to work to help create an environment that supports and empowers Guild’s diverse workforce,” said Watson. “I think this is a pivotal role, and I’m proud that Guild tapped me to bring my personal perspective as someone who has successfully overcome cultural differences and achieved a high level of success within the mortgage industry to foster diversity and inclusion. With this new role, one big area of focus is to build strong relationships and collaborations with internal stakeholders and external diversity-focused organizations.”
