Strategic hires aim to enhance mortgage production and advisory services
Mutual of Omaha Mortgage and Gate House Strategies have both expanded their teams by adding mortgage industry veterans to bolster their growth and expertise.
Mutual of Omaha Mortgage has onboarded three mortgage teams to drive growth in key markets: the Dan Hrey Team from Arizona, the Ray Patterson Team from the Carolinas, and the Paul Beatty Team from the Northeast.
“Mutual of Omaha Mortgage has experienced tremendous growth, highlighted by an additional $300 million in annual production this summer,” said Jeff Gennarelli, president of the forward mortgage product line at Mutual of Omaha Mortgage. “By welcoming these powerhouse teams into our family, we know we won’t be slowing down any time soon. As we continue to grow, we are looking for even more passionate professionals to join us on this exciting journey.”

In a similar move, Washington, DC-based mortgage advisory firm Gate House Strategies announced that Steve Powel (pictured above), former CEO and co-founder of Situs (now SitusAMC), has joined its team as senior advisor.
Powel’s role will include providing strategic counsel and industry insight to Gate House’s various business divisions, including Gate House Blueprint, Compliance, and Digital.
“We are honored to bring Steve’s broad knowledge and business acumen to be a part of our senior team at Gate House,” Gate House co-founder Brian Montgomery said in a press release. “I have known and worked with Steve over the past 10 years on various important issues facing our industry.
“His specific experience building one of the premier global financial services companies in the mortgage industry through multiple real estate cycles, provides Gate House and our clients a very unique prospective on financial market behaviors.”
Powel’s career includes roles as executive vice president and head of strategy at NuBridge. He also served on the board of several industry-leading organizations, including the Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) and Foundation CREF. Additionally, Powel leads Point North Capital, a family office company.
“Gate House is respected throughout the industry for its depth and breadth of knowledge about the markets and affordable housing, sought after for its expertise and insights,” said Powel, who brings over 38 years of experience in commercial real estate. “The talent they’ve assembled is second to none. I am looking forward to contributing to Gate House’s continued success, to playing a role as we venture into new innovative territory, and to helping the team make a positive impact overall on the industry and on behalf of millions of people who need affordable housing and who need access.”
