Mortgage Bankers Association welcomes new director of member relations
The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) has appointed David Menke (pictured) as its new director of member relations.
In this role, Menke will manage MBA’s residential member companies and focus on strengthening member engagement. Menke’s responsibilities will also include identifying new ways for MBA to support the business efforts of its members.
“David’s extraordinary people skills and his extensive knowledge of the mortgage industry, backed by two decades of experience, make him the perfect choice to fill this role,” Laura Hopkins, vice president of membership, said in MBA’s announcement. “I look forward to him joining our exceptional member relations team and enhancing our member engagement initiatives.”
Menke brings 20 years of experience in mortgage banking, having previously served as vice president of secondary marketing at CapStar Bank. He also led the secondary markets operations at Franklin Synergy Bank and began his career as a loan origination sales specialist in 2004. In addition to his industry experience, Menke has been an active member of MBA for the past five years.
In 2024, Menke was elected president of the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association (TNMBA), where he advocated for the mortgage industry and led initiatives focused on growth and education for its members. He also served as president of the Nashville Mortgage Bankers Association in 2020.
Earlier this year, MBA also named Owen Lee, CEO of Success Mortgage Partners (SMP), as vice chairman for the 2025 membership year. Under MBA’s bylaws, Lee is set to become chairman-elect in 2026 and chairman in 2027.
Additionally, MBA’s standards organization, MISMO, announced two new appointments to its board of directors: Patrick Hartford, vice president of architecture and engineering at Rocket Mortgage, and Giuseppe “Joe” Lucido, senior vice president of operations at United Wholesale Mortgage.
“We are excited to welcome these two accomplished industry leaders to MISMO’s Board,” MISMO president David Coleman said. “I look forward to working with them in driving innovation that will benefit the entire industry.”
