He will spearhead lender's online strategy and operational streamlining
Planet Home Lending, a national mortgage lender and servicer, has named Bill Shuler (pictured) as its new executive vice president and chief information officer.
Shuler brings over 25 years of experience in financial services and mortgage leadership. In his new role, he will spearhead Planet’s technological growth initiatives and drive operational efficiency enhancements.
“Bill’s extensive experience in leveraging technology to grow organizations in a practical, secure manner made him the ideal choice for Planet,” said Michael Dubeck, CEO and president of Planet Financial Group, parent of Planet Home Lending. “His ability to bridge business and IT, along with his commitment to compliance and integrity, makes him an invaluable addition to the executive leadership team as we continue to strengthen our multichannel platform.”
Throughout his career, Shuler has specialized in business strategy and systems renovation aimed at increasing productivity, reducing costs, and aligning operating units throughout his career.
“My focus has always been on creating pragmatic IT solutions that support dynamic business growth, and I am ready to build strategic partnerships across all areas of Planet and help solidify the foundation for that growth,” Shuler said in a Press release. “My goal is to execute a technological strategy that not only streamlines business processes but enhances security and customer experience while reducing costs and aligning with industry standards.”
Prior to joining Planet, Shuler was president of WPS Advisors, providing consulting services to mortgage firms and private equity companies. Before that, he served as executive managing director and chief information officer at Home Point Financial, where he restructured IT services, driving significant productivity gains, cost reductions, and increased profitability.

Additionally, Shuler held CIO leadership roles at GMAC Mortgage/GMAC ResCap, National City Mortgage, and Homeward Residential, where he also served as chief administrative officer and chairman of their offshore captive in Pune, India.
The appointment comes as the Connecticut-based lender aims to strengthen its multi-channel mortgage lending, servicing, and asset management platform through strategic technological advancements.
