The West led the year-over-year increases for home showings
American consumers may have been busy with holiday shopping in December but they made time to check out homes available for sale.
According to the ShowingTime Showing Index Report, showings recorded by agents using its products and services - ShowingTime facilitates more than four million showings each month - were up 6.9% year-over-year in December, marking the fifth consecutive month of annual increases.
The West saw the largest increase in showings (20.9%) while the South posted a 12.9% increase, the Midwest was up 4%, and the Northeast gained 3.5%.
"December showing numbers confirm what we first reported for November 2019, that year-over-year buyer activity has increased substantially,” said ShowingTime Chief Analytics Officer Daniil Cherkasskiy. “NAR is reporting a significant year-over-year jump in pending sales, which confirms the trend."
