It's taken two years but the former Berry Gordy mansion in Detroit has finally been sold for $1.65 million.
The home, now known as The Motown Mansion was bought by a native Detroiter who is relocating back to the area from San Francisco, and the sale price is higher than any sale in the Boston-Edison district in recent history.
The home sits in 2.2 acres at 918 W. Boston Blvd. It includes a 10,500 square foot primary residence along with a 4,400 square foot pool house, and a carriage house with its own apartment.
Local real estate agent Deborah Smith of the Family First Team at Keller Williams put together the marketing plan which eventually attracted the right buyer.
"The process took two years and we went through several deals with several buyers before Ms. Reaves found the right buyer to protect the legacy of this iconic home and become its new steward," she said.
The listing attracted multiple offers with potential buyers from London, Dubai and Brazil.
