Rising home prices and rents will add more pressure to tight household budgets in the year ahead according to a new report.
The GoBankingRate.com survey identifies 10 US cities where the cost of living is set to see the largest increases in the cost of living during 2018.
Portland, ORE leads the rise with a projected rise in median home values of 2.8% with median rents jumping 5.34%. Next is Seattle, with home values up 4.86% and rents up 5.73%.
The calculations are based on the projected change in home value and rent price based on year-over-year change for all years 2014 to 2017 and the rise in the consumer price index during the past three years.
The metro expected to see the largest increase in home values is Dallas-Fort Worth while Denver will also see upward pressure with rising values and tight supply.
For the cost of goods and services, San Francisco has seen the sharpest rise in the past three years.
