Academy taps industry vets as regional managers

Academy Mortgage has tapped industry veterans Leif Boyd and Patrick Welberg as regional managers.

Boyd and Welberg will oversee sales, recruiting, personnel management and business development along the West Coast, according to a news release.

Boyd has been named regional manager for California and Nevada. Prior to coming to Academy, he worked at American Pacific Mortgage, where he served in positions including originator, branch manager and head of production. Boyd has also held positions in both retail and wholesale lending at HSBC, National City and Merrill Lynch.

Welberg has been named regional manager of Academy’s newly created Pacific Northwest region. Prior to coming to Academy, he served as both a branch manager and district manager at Guild Mortgage, where his branch produced more than $705 million in loan volume in 2015 alone.
Welberg has also served as director of the mortgage sales department at OnPoint Community Credit Union and regional manager and branch manager at Bank of America.
