New EVP to focus on innovative solutions for construction financing
Ameris Bank has promoted Ross McWilliams (pictured) to lead its homebuilder unit as executive vice president and managing director of the division.
McWilliams, who brings over three decades of experience in the homebuilding sector and 15 years at Ameris Bank, will be responsible for overseeing the division that specializes in providing loans and banking services for new home construction, lot purchases, and development.
“Ross McWilliams has more than 15 years of experience with Ameris Bank and 30 years in the homebuilding industry,” said Ameris Bank CEO Palmer Proctor. “His expertise and emphasis on building strong relationships make him the right person to lead this team and to help customers react quickly when opportunities arise.”
Before Ameris, McWilliams spent over 15 years at Fidelity Bank as senior vice president. He also held other leadership roles early in his career, including market president at Park Avenue Bank and market manager of Bank of America’s North Florida homebuilder division.
McWilliams noted the hurdles faced by the homebuilder industry and expressed his commitment to addressing them. According to the National Association of Homebuilders, skyrocketing mortgage rates took a toll on builder confidence, which fell to a five-month low in September.
“Like all sectors, the homebuilder industry is facing unique challenges,” he said in a media release. “As I take on this role, I am laser-focused on working with our team to tailor solutions to each customer’s particular needs.”
Ameris Bank’s homebuilder division offers various services tailored to the homebuilding industry, including construction financing, builder lines of credit, and residential builder financing.
