John Hankerd replaces James Simons in the role
Associated Banc-Corp announced that it has promoted John Hankerd to executive vice president and chief credit officer to replace James Simons.
Hankerd is currently the bank’s executive vice president and group leader of specialized industries. His promotion is effective Aug. 7. Simons is retiring after more than 35 years in the banking industry.
Hankerd assumes the role with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. After joining the bank in 2004, he has held senior management roles in the areas of commercial and corporate banking, including credit functions.
As chief credit officer, Hankerd will be responsible for the leadership and strategic execution of Associated’s credit policy, reserve methodology, underwriting standards, loan quality, and overall credit administration. Additionally, he will serve as part of the executive committee. Hankerd will be based in Milwaukee.
