Donald Trump says he’s “seriously considering” the retired neurosurgeon to head up the Department of Housing and Urban Development
Dr. Ben Carson may be in contention for another cabinet position.
In a tweet today, President-elect Donald Trump said he was “seriously considering” Carson to head up the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who ran against Trump in the primaries, became one of the president-elect’s most visible surrogates during the general election.
The announcement that Carson is under consideration is a bit of a double-back. Last week, when he was rumored to be under consideration for a cabinet post, one of Carson’s advisors told The Hill that Carson “feels he has no government experience. He’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.”
A spokesman for Carson told CNN today that he wouldn’t comment on the HUD position.
