Experience at the banking sector shaped Yazdi's dedication to his clients' needs
Shahin Yazdi, principal and managing director at California-based George Smith Partners, said that cutting his teeth at the commercial banking sector has shaped his approach to clients in his 15 years as a mortgage professional.
“I started my career at a major commercial bank, which gave me in-depth knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of the banking system,” Yazdi said. “My expectations were met because I especially enjoyed the relationships I had with my clients. To this day, I find it incredibly rewarding to offer the best possible financial opportunities for clients. I enjoy the challenges that come with each financing, and my clients appreciate how hard I work for them.”
A defining moment in Yazdi’s career was the previous global financial crisis.
“In 2009, at the height of the economic downturn, I established an advisory services arm at George Smith Partners to assist borrowers and lenders with troubled loans and distressed assets,” Yazdi said. “I realized that during the recession, I needed to work twice as hard to build strong relationships with clients and capital relationships.”
This background cultivated Yazdi’s dedication to his customers, which paved the way to his eventual success.
“Thirteen years ago I started working at George Smith Partners as an analyst. I worked my way up the ladder and in 2015, I became the youngest principal in the company’s history,” Yazdi said. “My specialty is to act not only as a capital advisor for clients but also to offer outsource CFO services for clients. With the ability to provide the best possible financing and structures for specific transactions, I can also provide clients with financial strategies for their cash flow issues, raising capital and solving tight margins. The most important factor in working with my clients is to be able to set them up for profitability and growth for the long-term.”
