The CFPB director was an undefeated champion on the popular game show in 1987
A lot of mortgage professionals think that the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is putting the industry in jeopardy. Looks like he’s giving himself the same treatment Wednesday.
CFPB Director Richard Cordray will appear on Jeopardy! Wednesday. Cordray was an undefeated, five-time champion on the popular game show in 1987, winning more than $45,000, according to CFPBmonitor.com. He’s coming back as part of the show’s “1980s Week” segment of its “Battle of the Decades,” which celebrates the show’s 30th anniversary.
Cordray has already filmed his segment, although it is not yet known whether he won. A federal government official stated before the taping that if Cordray did win, he would not keep the money, according to American Banker.
After winning big in 1987, Cordray used his Jeopardy! earnings to pay his father back for law school tuition, buy a used car and take a vacation to Northern California, American Banker reported.
