Buyers in Washington may have to wait for a new home
Home builders in the Washington area are staying cautious about over-supply and that could mean buyers having to be patient. Last year many builders in the area found that had inventory that was harder to sell so this year they are not keen to get ahead of the buyers.
Ben Sage of Metrostudy told the Washington Post: “Builders were optimistic in 2014, but they found that the demand wasn’t what they thought it would be.”
Builders’ confidence is higher generally across the United States but as always there are regional variations, even when broken down to smaller areas. Within the Washington Beltway there is more building happening than in some of the outer suburbs.
“One trend we’re seeing is that the tear-down business is continuing to boom, especially in the city but also in close-in suburbs,” Dan Fulton, senior vice president of John Burns Real Estate Consulting in Reston, Virginia, said. Read the full story.
Home sales in Waco up 20% at start of the year
The home sales market in Waco, Texas, is booming, according to figures for the first two months of 2015. There has been a 20% rise in sales and some agents are finding it hard to satisfy all buyers as inventory is low in some property types.
With the market set to get even hotter over the coming months local realtor Trammell Kelly told the Waco Tribune-Herald: “If anybody is thinking about selling, now is the time.” He added that clients are travelling longer distances with the intention of buying in Waco.
“We’re smack in the middle between Dallas and Austin, and we have assets such as Baylor University, Texas State Technical College and McLennan Community College. Waco is unique, and people are realizing that.” Homes in the upper $100,000 to $200,000 are particularly popular in the market.
The city is also home to the popular HGTV show Fixer Upper.

Walking Dead star sells Atlanta home
Norman Reedus; star of The Walking Dead, which ended season 5 last night (but we won’t say what happened in case you haven’t seen it yet!); has reportedly sold his home in Atlanta in favor of a quieter lifestyle.
The actor’s Daryl Dixon has been an integral part of the show but becoming that popular has meant a lack of privacy for Reedus and he is said to want to find a home in the country to escape to. His Serenbe home is reported to be listed at $585,000.
