The beleaguered finance giant JPMorgan got some more bad news late Tuesday: its high-profile CEO has been diagnosed with throat cancer.
Jamie Dimon made the announcement Tuesday in a letter to shareholders. The letter arrived on Dimon’s 10-year anniversary as JPMorgan CEO, according to a Daily Beast report.
Dimon told shareholders that the malady had been caught early and his prognosis was excellent. He said he would be starting treatment soon.
“While the treatment will curtail my travel during this period, I have been advised that I will be able to continue to be actively involved in our business, and we will continue to run our company as normal,” Dimon wrote.
Dimon guided JPMorgan through the financial meltdown relatively unscathed, but has since weathered many a scandal as the bank has been forced to pay out billions in settlements over shady mortgage deals.
